Your mind is always somewhere else. It’s like you’re constantly thinking about the past or worrying about the future and you never have the chance to just sit and be.
You’re really looking to have more peace and ease in your life, but you’re not sure how to do this when you’re being sucked into the quicksand of your anxiety.
You wonder if you’ve ever had a real sense of security. Because when you look back, even to your earliest memories, you think about being anxious. There has always been a bit of unease and somehow, you’ve managed to live with it. You’ve made it this far by pushing down your worries and pretending you don’t have fears, but that never made them truly go away.
Recently, you’ve noticed you can’t escape like you used to. It’s like the wheels of your mind never stop turning and the worry has morphed to panic. So much so, you’re on edge almost all of the time. You recognize a dread building inside of you and you’re apprehensive about everything from spending time with friends and family to the direction your life is heading. You’ve started to have flashbacks and nightmares and are beginning to think there’s a bigger cause to why you’ve always felt so uneasy.
Now here you are searching for the answers
It’s as if there is more to your story than you know or remember. And sometimes it seems like your constant worry is really your memory’s way of telling you to look deeper. You’re afraid that if you don’t get clarity on what exactly is at the root of your anxiety it’s going to start limiting your life more than it already has.
That’s not to say you think life should be easy all of the time. You know you have to go through difficult things in order to grow. But you never thought you’d give up being open-minded for fear of what might happen. What you didn’t expect was how little peace you’d feel just being yourself. You never predicted you’d be so anxious about the future. And you certainly had no idea you’d avoid the things that once brought you joy.

The Anxiety Counseling Process
Anxiety Counseling is intended to help you get to the root cause of your worries, so you can understand exactly where your doubts come from. Together, you and I will take a supportive approach to your treatment and work to clarify what is happening on an internal level to cause your anxiety. We will strive to get you to a place where you feel safe and secure and then we will dive deeper into the longer-lasting meaningful work.
We will meet together weekly for 50-minute sessions. Typically, counseling continues for several weeks or months, but the duration of your time in therapy will depend on the complexity of your concerns.
Here’s what to expect:
WEEK ONE: Intake
During this initial session, you and I will meet to define the counseling relationship and discuss the details of informed consent. I will then gather information about your biological, psychological, and social history and how this is impacting your current situation. We will also discuss the benefits and limitations of therapy. You will have an opportunity to explore your goals for therapy and address any concerns or questions you have about the process. You will leave this session with at least one skill to help you begin to manage your worries.
WEEK TWO and Beyond: Anxiety Counseling
Together, in each subsequent session, you and I will use well tested and proven psychotherapy models to help you experience a greater sense of calm. This typically includes the use of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Mindfulness.
Each session is designed to maximize the therapeutic relationship and ensure the most healing possible. Together, you and I will use body-based coping skills to increase your awareness of how you experience anxiety and explore what is within your control.
TERMINATION: 1-2 Final Sessions
In your final sessions, you will review your goals to ensure you are satisfied with your counseling experience and that the work you and I have done together has met your expectations. We will also outline a plan going forward so that you are able to retain what you have worked on together and implement all you have learned outside of session.
